The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has introduced a new sub-module named “Truck Movement” within the ASYCUDA World system to electronically record the entry and exit of all goods-carrying trucks from India.
The pilot operation of this sub-module began on 15 December at the Benapole Customs House, marking a significant shift from the previous manual system, according to a press release issued by the NBR on Thursday.
The new module will enable accurate tracking of the arrival and departure of each Indian truck, helping to determine the duration of their stay and allowing real-time monitoring of truck movements.
This digitalisation effort is expected to enhance data management, reduce revenue leakages, and ensure greater transparency and accountability. NBR officials said the system will play a vital role in strengthening border security and facilitate the preparation of real-time reports.
Following the pilot phase, the NBR plans to roll out the Truck Movement sub-module across all land ports in the country soon. This initiative is part of the NBR’s broader strategy to modernise customs operations and improve efficiency at border points.
