National Board of Revenue (NBR) has started the regular publication of import data categorised by HS Code on its official website, a move aimed at boosting transparency and simplifying public access to critical trade information.
A press release from NBR authority issued on Tuesday said the initiative responds directly to persistent demands from young entrepreneurs, students, investors, trade researchers, businesspeople, journalists, and analysts who have long sought reliable and readily available import statistics.
NBR has recently uploaded the HS Code-based data for goods imported under both commercial and bonded facilities for December 2025. This information is now accessible through the Customs section of the Publication portal on the NBR’s official website (nbr.gov.bd).
The published dataset provides comprehensive details, including the quantity, weight, and value of imported commodities, all systematically classified under the globally recognised HS codes.
Officials anticipate that this routine data release will foster a more open, transparent, and user-friendly environment for accessing trade information. It will empower entrepreneurs, researchers, academics, journalists, and policymakers to utilise dependable statistics for thorough analysis and informed decision-making.
This initiative is further expected to assist users in gaining clearer insights into international market prices and their fluctuations. It will also simplify the analysis of import trends, seasonal variations, and the movement of various goods.
Additionally, the data will prove valuable for assessing Bangladesh’s overall trade structure, its import dependency, the inflow of industrial raw materials through bonded facilities, and the efficacy of support mechanisms for export-oriented industries.
NBR stated that this measure will contribute significantly to international trade analysis, evidence-based policy formulation, and strategic business decisions.
As part of its ongoing trade facilitation efforts, NBR has committed to continuing the monthly publication of HS Code-based import data for goods cleared under commercial and bonded facilities. This sustained effort is designed to ensure wider public access and uphold transparency in trade documentation.
