The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Thursday announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Australia, scheduled for June 17, 19 and 21.
All three matches will be played at the Bir Sreshtho Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Cricket Stadium in Chattogram.
There are three changes from the squad that featured in the recent T20I series against New Zealand. Ripon Mondol and Mohammad Saifuddin have been left out, while Tanzim Hasan Sakib is unavailable as he continues his rehabilitation from a back injury.
Fast bowlers Taskin Ahmed and Nahid Rana, along with left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman, return to the squad.
Explaining the inclusions, chief selector Habibul Bashar Sumon said: “As Australia are our opponents, we wanted to strengthen our bowling attack.”
Meanwhile, Saif Hassan, who had been serving as the vice-captain in the format, has informed the selectors that he is unwilling to continue in the role. Chief selector Habibul Bashar Sumon said Saif wants to focus more on his batting. Towhid Hridoy has been appointed as his successor as vice-captain.
