Additional IGP of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Moslehuddin Ahmed, and Superintendent of Police (SP) of Dhaka District, Shamima Parveen, have been elected unopposed as president and general secretary respectively of the Bangladesh Police Service Association (BPSA).
The election took place through voice vote at a meeting of the association held on Wednesday afternoon at the Rajarbagh Police Lines Auditorium, according to officials present.
The newly elected leadership will now form the full executive committee of the organisation, it was informed.
Previously, Nazmul Karim Khan served as BPSA president and Md Anisuzzaman as general secretary.
With the formation of the new committee, a fresh face has arrived in the leadership of this organisation of BCS Police Cadre officers.
The newly elected president and general secretary have pledged to work towards improving the professionalism of police members and ensuring people-friendly policing, meeting sources said.
