The Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) hosted its Freshers’ Reception for the academic session 2025–2026 on 14 June 2026 at the Mirpur Cantonment Shaheed Yamin Auditorium in Dhaka, formally welcoming 955 newly admitted students, including 133 military cadets, across 15 BSc engineering, science and architecture departments.
The event was attended by students, parents, faculty members and senior officials, including Professor Mamun Ahmed, Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), who inaugurated the programme as chief guest. Maj Gen Md Hakimuzzaman, SGP, ndc, afwc, psc, Commandant of MIST, along with deans, department heads and directors of administration and finance were also present. The ceremony marked the official start of the new academic year at the institution, said in a press release.
The programme began with the National Anthem, followed by an institutional presentation outlining academic and administrative activities. Two current students shared their experiences, while newly admitted students expressed excitement about their academic journey. Several parents also highlighted their satisfaction with MIST’s disciplined and supportive learning environment.
Addressing the gathering, Professor Mamun Ahmed congratulated the freshers and urged them to uphold discipline, innovation and continuous learning. He encouraged students to actively participate in co-curricular activities including robotics, cultural and literary pursuits, cybersecurity, debate and aeronautics to build leadership skills and ensure holistic development.
The ceremony also featured participation from deans, department heads, faculty members, staff and parents, reflecting what organisers described as a spirited beginning for the incoming batch at MIST.
