The simplicity and emotion of 1990s romance are set to return in a contemporary form with iScreen’s upcoming web film Mission DDLJ: Dhrubo Diyas Love Journey.
The romantic comedy, directed by Asif Jahangir Orko, stars Naovi and Labonno in the lead roles.
The film aims to recreate the warmth and innocence of 90s love while presenting the story through a modern cinematic lens.
According to the makers, the web film explores the emotions and atmosphere of romance from that era in a way that will appeal to today’s younger audience.
The production was filmed at several scenic rural locations across Dhaka and Manikganj.
The title Mission DDLJ also carries a hidden story.
However, director Orko has chosen not to reveal the mystery behind the name yet, saying viewers will have to watch the film to discover it.
“The story will offer audiences a different kind of enjoyment because it presents the emotions of 90s romance through a modern filmmaking approach,” the director said.
Executive producer Asheque Hossain Tonmoy said shooting for Mission DDLJ has recently been completed, while post-production is also finished.
Alongside the new lead pair, the film features Masoud Mahmoud, Shopna Sheikh, Sharmin Sultana Shormi, Sadia Islam Jui, Arman Mahmud and Shawkat Shovon.
If everything goes as planned, Mission DDLJ: Dhrubo Diyas Love Journey will premiere on iScreen in late September.
