Police recovered the body of a man from an abandoned market in the capital’s Mirpur‑11 on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Shariful Islam Suman, 32, a mobile mechanic.
His family had filed a general diary (GD) with Pallabi Police Station after he went missing five days earlier.
Mobarak Hossain, sub‑inspector of Pallabi Police Station, said Suman left home for work on 12 January and had remained missing since.
Acting on information received through the national emergency number 999, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.
The cause of death could not be determined immediately.
The body was sent to Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital morgue.
