Mirza Abbas, lawmaker and member of the BNP Standing Committee, is currently undergoing a second phase of brain surgery at Evercare Hospital in the capital.

The first stage of the surgical procedure commenced at 3pm on Friday and was completed by 6:15pm. However, following the emergence of physical complications, a second round of surgery began at 6:30pm and remained ongoing as of the latest reports.

According to family members, the veteran politician and political advisor to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman was hospitalised on Wednesday night after suddenly losing consciousness while drinking water during Iftar.

As his physical condition deteriorated rapidly, Mirza Abbas was admitted to Evercare Hospital in the Bashundhara Residential Area.

Medical professionals have stated that if his condition shows signs of improvement following this second surgery, Mirza Abbas may be transported to Singapore for advanced medical treatment.

His family has already finalised all necessary arrangements for his transfer, including the preparation of a specialised air ambulance.
