Metro rail services at three stations remained suspended following clashes between garment workers and police in the capital’s Mirpur area.

Mirpur-10, Mirpur-11 and Pallabi stations were closed immediately after clashes erupted around noon on Sunday, disrupting metro rail operations.

Meanwhile, garment workers allegedly set fire to a police vehicle during the clashes. The incident took place beneath Mirpur-11 Metro Station near Purbabi Cinema Hall.

The clashes erupted after law enforcement personnel attempted to remove protesters from roads in the area.

On Sunday morning, garment workers from different factories staged protests for the second consecutive day in and around the Mirpur-10 roundabout, demanding a minimum monthly wage of Tk30,000.
