The 38-year-old forward is the biggest name in both Miami and Major League Soccer. Talks have already started to keep him in the United States for longer.
Club officials and MLS leaders are confident Messi will agree. Sources close to the player also say he is open to staying, even though clubs in Saudi Arabia have shown interest.
One reason to keep Messi is his global pull. With the 2026 World Cup coming to North America, his presence keeps the spotlight on the league. Many expect Messi to end his international career after Argentina defend their title, though this has not been confirmed.
Messi is already Miami’s all-time top scorer with 50 goals. His latest came from a free-kick in the Club World Cup against Porto.
Miami, however, exited the tournament after a heavy 4-0 defeat to European champions Paris Saint-Germain. The match drew 65,574 fans in Atlanta.
