Actress Meghla Mukta has opened up about the severe road accident that left her in intensive care and caused significant injuries to her face.
The actress was hit by a vehicle while crossing a road on 29 July and was rushed to a hospital in Dhaka.
She underwent emergency surgery and spent time in the intensive care unit (ICU). She is now out of danger and recovering.
However, the accident has left visible scars and injuries on her face, taking a heavy emotional toll on the actress.
She has decided to stay away from the public eye for the time being as she focuses on her physical and mental recovery.
In an emotional post on her official Facebook page on Monday, Mukta thanked her fans, colleagues and well-wishers for their prayers and support.
“Alhamdulillah, with all your prayers, love and blessings, I am now largely out of danger,” she wrote.
She added that people had travelled long distances to visit her in hospital, while many others continued praying for her from afar.
She also said she had heard that many people waited outside the operating theatre during her nine- to 10-hour surgery.
Describing the impact of the accident, Mukta said her face had suffered extensive injuries and still bore numerous wounds and stitches.
“The hardest part may be standing in front of the mirror every day and seeing myself anew, and wondering how I will accept this change and rebuild myself from here,” she wrote, adding that she believed she would overcome the situation.
As an actress, Mukta said her appearance was an important part of her profession, making the injuries particularly difficult to deal with emotionally.
“I am an actress. Acting is my work, my love and my dream,” she wrote.
“When you suddenly have to see so many wounds, stitches and scars on your face, it is impossible to express in words how difficult that is mentally. Still, I do not want to give up.”
Mukta also addressed speculation surrounding the accident.
She said information previously shared by her administrative team was accurate and confirmed that she was injured while crossing the road.
She further revealed that a complaint had already been filed with Banani Police Station. However, she said she did not want to discuss the matter in detail at this stage.
“Once I am physically stronger, I will come before you very soon and explain everything—what happened, what steps have been taken and what will be done next,” she wrote.
The accident has also forced Mukta to put several professional commitments on hold.
She said she had been reading scripts and preparing to begin several projects, some of which may now be delayed.
“Life has taught me once again that, before everything else, staying alive, recovering and standing up again are what matter most,” she wrote.
Mukta said she would seek the best possible treatment, both in Bangladesh and abroad if necessary, and expressed hope that time, medical care, mental strength and the prayers of her well-wishers would help her return to work.
Mukta became known to audiences after appearing in the Telugu film Sakala Kalavallabhudu. Her other notable films include Payer Chhap, Kathgolap and Aguner Pakhi.
