Meena Day has been celebrated across the country on Wednesday, with the aim of raising awareness about child issues and highlighting the importance of children’s rights.
Celebrated on 24 September annually since 1998, Meena Day honors the legacy of Meena, the beloved animated character who symbolises child rights and gender equality.
The Meena Communication Initiative (MCI), developed by UNICEF, aims to change harmful perceptions and behaviors affecting the survival, development, and protection of girls in South Asia.
