With a career spanning two decades and nearly 200 films to her credit, Apu Biswas remains a household name in the Bangladeshi film industry.
While her presence on the silver screen has become less frequent of late, the actress stays busy with brand endorsements and high-profile photo shoots. However, it is her recent candid reflections on her personal life that have once again placed her at the centre of public discussion.
In a revealing interview with a Bengali online portal, the actress opened up about what she considers the most significant misstep of her life: her marriage.
Reflecting on the decision made during the early stages of her career, Biswas admitted that marrying at a young age, driven by raw emotion, was a “big mistake.”
“I married at a very young age out of emotion, which I later realised was a massive error,” she shared. Offering a word of caution to others based on her own experiences, she added that no girl should take the life-altering step of marriage until she has reached a level of maturity.
The actress’s personal history has long been a subject of public fascination. She secretly wed superstar Shakib Khan on 18 April 2008, keeping the union hidden from the public eye for nine years.
The secret was finally revealed during a dramatic television appearance in 2017, followed by a highly publicised divorce on 12 March 2018. Their only son, Abraham Khan Joy, currently lives with Biswas but continues to spend time with his father on special occasions.
Despite the challenges of the past, Biswas maintains that she has emerged stronger and more mature. She expressed a desire to move away from the impulsiveness of her youth and focus on her professional commitments with a newfound sense of clarity.
When questioned about the possibility of a second marriage, she remained enigmatic, stating, “I am not in a position to answer such a question at this moment.”
On the professional front, although her film Durbar did not see a release during the last Eid-ul-Fitr, industry rumours suggest that a new project titled Secret may be set for a release this coming Eid-ul-Azha.
While official confirmation is yet to be provided, the prospect of her return to the screen continues to spark curiosity among her fans, who wonder if a new chapter is truly beginning for the star.
