A man allegedly stabbed his wife and mother‑in‑law to death following an argument in Dhaka’s Kalabagan on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Farzana Akter, 21, and her mother Firoza Begum, 40.
The incident occurred around 8am at the fifth floor of a house on Al Amin Mosque Road in Kathalbagan, the residence of Farzana’s parents.
Firoza’s husband, Md Faruk Hossain, said he received a phone call in the morning about a quarrel between his daughter’s husband and the two women.
He rushed home and arrived around 9am to find Farzana dead and Firoza critically injured. Leaving his daughter’s body, he took Firoza to Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s emergency department, where doctors declared her dead.
Faruk said that while he was outside, his wife and daughter argued with Farzana’s husband, Shipon. At one point, Shipon attacked them with a sharp knife, then fled with his one‑year‑old son. Shipon lives in Dhaka’s Mohammadpur area.
Inspector Md Faruk, in charge of the hospital police camp, confirmed the deaths and said Firoza’s body was kept in the morgue.
The incident has been reported to Kalabagan Police Station.
