A man was shot dead and three others sustained bullet injuries in an attack allegedly linked to a long-standing rivalry between two groups in Raipura upazila of Narsingdi on Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified as Momen Mia, 55, son of Dhon Mia, a resident of Saudagarkandi village in the upazila.
The injured-Mobarak, 65, Nazmul Hossain, 30, and Ruhul Amin, 37-were taken to Raipura Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
Officer-in-Charge of Raipura Police Station Mojinur Rahman said two groups, known locally as the “Farid Group” and the “Momen Chairman Group”, had been involved in a dispute stemming from previous enmity.
He said, as part of the ongoing feud, armed supporters of the Farid Group allegedly entered Momen’s house around 7am and opened fire on him and others.
Momen sustained gunshot wounds to his head and legs and later died from his injuries. The three others injured in the attack were undergoing treatment at the health facility.
Police have increased security deployment in the area to prevent any further escalation of violence.
