A man in a violent clash over a Facebook post in Alamganj Upazila of Chuadanga on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased, identified as Shimul, son of Lalu Hossain, sustained critical injuries during the clash and later died at Kushtia Sadar Hospital.
According to Alamganj Police Officer-in-Charge Bani Israel, the clash began after Hridoy, son of Sekandar Ali, posted a status on Facebook while staying in Dhaka.
He returned to the village two days before Eid, triggering disputes between rival groups in Chhatrapara village.
On Eid day, tensions between factions led by Hannan and Jahangir escalated into a physical confrontation, resulting in Shimul’s fatal injuries. Police, who arrived at the scene, confirmed that the situation is now under control.
Additional police forces have been deployed to maintain law and order.
An investigation is underway, and authorities are identifying individuals involved for potential arrests.
In a related development, an elderly resident of the village, Nazimuddin, reportedly died from a shock after hearing about the clash.
No formal cases have been filed in connection with the incident.
