Bangladesh’s Health Ministry has encouraged patients to choose Malaysia for advanced treatment at affordable costs as the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) launched its ‘U-Turn’ campaign to promote healthcare travel between the two countries.
A delegation from MHTC, led by Malaysian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Mohd Shuhada Othman, met Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare office in Dhaka on Monday to discuss strengthening bilateral healthcare cooperation, MHTC said in a press release.
The meeting also reviewed Malaysia’s healthcare travel sector, with MHTC saying revenue from treatment-related travel by Bangladeshi patients to Malaysia has increased 22.7 per cent compared with last year.
MHTC officials said Malaysia now offers advanced technology-based hospitals, specialist doctors and comparatively affordable treatment options, encouraging Bangladeshi patients to consider the country as their first choice for overseas medical care.
The MHTC delegation’s visit and programme in Bangladesh will continue from 17 to 20 August. During the visit, representatives will meet hospitals, referral agencies and health-related organisations.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has also expressed a positive outlook on expanding healthcare cooperation between Bangladesh and Malaysia.
