The BNP government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has reshuffled secretaries in 16 ministries and divisions, attaching five secretaries to the Ministry of Public Administration.
The government has also promoted nine officials of additional secretary rank to the post of secretary.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued 16 separate notifications on Thursday night announcing the changes.
Five secretaries, including Cabinet Division Secretary (Coordination and Reform) Jaheda Parveen, have been attached to the Ministry of Public Administration.
The others are Economic Relations Division Secretary Shahriar Kader Siddiky, Financial Institutions Division Secretary Nazma Mobarek, Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division Secretary Shirajun Noor Chowdhury, and Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ministry Secretary Farhina Ahmed.
Meanwhile, SM Ebadur Rahman has been appointed Secretary of the Economic Relations Division on a contractual basis for one year.
Wage Earners’ Welfare Board (WEWB) Director General Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan has been appointed Secretary of the Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat.
Secretary of the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat Kaniz Mowla, has been transferred to the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division.
Yasmeen Parveen, SDS (Civil) at the National Defence College, has been made Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs.
Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Mokhter Ahmed has been appointed Secretary of the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment. Senior Secretary Neyamat Ullah Bhuiyan, who was serving on a contractual basis in the same ministry, has been reappointed on contract as a member of the Planning Commission.
Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Land Raihan Kawsar has been made Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. Zakaria, Chairman of the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority, has been appointed Secretary of the Financial Institutions Division.
Additional Secretary of the Local Government Division Kazi Anwar Hossain has been made Secretary of the Information and Communication Technology Division.
Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment Fahmida Akhtar has been appointed Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.
Nasreen Jahan, Secretary of the same ministry, has been appointed Secretary of the Planning Commission.
Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Delwar Hossain has been appointed Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock.
The notifications stated that the orders, issued in the public interest, take immediate effect.
Earlier, after the BNP government led by Tarique Rahman assumed office, four secretaries were removed from their posts.
Nine secretaries appointed on contract during the interim government lost their jobs. In addition, deputy commissioners of five districts were withdrawn.
