Bangladesh National Insurance Company reported a 47 per cent year-on-year rise in profit in the first half of 2026 as lower claim payments, reduced management expenses and lower reinsurance costs boosted profitability and cash generation.
According to its financial statements released on Tuesday, the insurer’s earnings per share rose to Tk3.00 in January-June 2026 from Tk2.04 in the corresponding period a year earlier.
The earnings growth continued in the April-June quarter, with earnings per share increasing 42 per cent to Tk1.39 from Tk0.98 in the same period of 2025.
National Insurance said the stronger performance was driven by exemption of agency commission, lower claim payments, reduced management expenses and lower reinsurance costs during the period.
The improvement in earnings was reflected in cash generation, with net operating cash flow per share rising to Tk5.60 in the first six months of 2026 from Tk2.03 a year earlier.
Net asset value per share increased to Tk34.26 as of 30 June 2026 from Tk31.26 at the end of December 2025.
