Bangladesh captain Litton Das has expressed strong confidence in Jaker Ali’s ability to regain form, saying the middle-order batter will make a solid comeback soon. Despite recent struggles with his power-hitting and mounting criticism, Litton believes Jaker’s resilience and positive mindset will help him recover quickly.

A run of low scores has invited scrutiny, especially after Jaker attempted leg-side shot off an off-side delivery in the second T20I against the West Indies drew heavy criticism.

“The only way to make a comeback is by staying brave and not overthinking,” said Litton on 31 October 2025. “When you start worrying, negative thoughts take over. Positive thinking is key. I’ll always say back yourself, give yourself time, and surround yourself with the people who truly support you. I believe he’ll make a comeback soon, and he’ll do it well.”

“The players who are part of the team are all tested. It’s normal to have a couple of bad series or for a player to go through five or six off games. That doesn’t make anyone a bad player. Everyone knows what they need to work on. If we keep changing players, we’ll get the same results. Unless a new player gives an exceptional performance, it’s better to back the ones who’ve been playing for a while. Sticking with them increases the chance of positive results,” he explained.

Litton also addressed Bangladesh’s batting limitations, particularly the tendency of many players to favour leg-side strokes.

“The more your skills develop, the better. Knowing when to use them is up to you. Having more shots never hurts. Batters must expand their repertoire, play the sweep, the reverse sweep, everything. Only a few of our players play those shots regularly. World cricket has moved ahead; players now use them effectively even on challenging wickets. We’re still behind in that aspect. These are areas we need to work on. You should keep improving your skills as much as you can the application depends on the match situation,” Litton added.
