Toronto Film Forum has organised a Liberation War film exhibition to mark Bangladesh’s Victory Day in Canada. The exhibition, which began on 12 December, will continue until 16 December at 3000 Danforth Avenue in Toronto.
The organisation arranged a candlelight vigil in memory of the martyred intellectuals at local time in Canada on 14 December.
For the past 11 years, the Toronto Film Forum has been observing this day and demanding international recognition of the genocide.
On Martyred Intellectuals Day, audiences, braving the biting cold, stood on the streets holding candles and sang songs of the Liberation War to remember the martyred intellectuals.
On Martyred Intellectuals Day, the documentary “Ajibon Muktijoddha” was screened at the Toronto Film Forum.
The documentary is a unique document based on the struggle-filled and illustrious life of Ekushey Padak-winning scientist, writer, and valiant freedom fighter Dr Nurun Nabi.
This documentary, based on his book “Bullet of 71: A Freedom Fighter’s Story,” has been created by filmmaker Nadim Iqbal.
It highlights the lifelong struggle, patriotism, and ideals of a freedom fighter.
To present the history and spirit of the Liberation War to the new generation, this exhibition offers a unique experience for all film enthusiasts and history buffs.
The film “Sabitri,” directed by Pantho Prasad, was shown. On the concluding day, the film “Meghmallar” directed by Zahidur Rahim Anjan, will be screened on Tuesday evening, local time in Canada.
The organisers said, this event aims to convey the spirit, history, tradition, and culture of Bangladesh’s Victory Day among the tender-hearted children and adolescents growing up abroad in Canada.
They further said their efforts will continue from generation to generation.
