A legal notice has been served on actress Tanjin Tisha for allegedly publishing objectionable photographs and false information regarding fashion designer Sanaya Anam Wafiqah Chowdhury on her verified Facebook page.
The notice warns that a lawsuit will be filed against the actress if the relevant photos and text are not removed within two days of receiving the notice.
Advocate Shuvro Sinha Roni sent the notice on Wednesday on behalf of Anam.
According to the legal notice, Anam has previously filed two separate cases against Tisha in the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court and the Executive Magistrate Court, both of which are currently ongoing.
Amid these ongoing proceedings, objectionable photographs and false information concerning Anam were published on Tuesday from Tisha’s verified Facebook page.
The notice also alleges that various pieces of information were presented incorrectly in the country’s mass media.
The notice further stated that on 7 November last year, Tisha threatened Anam on Facebook Messenger to make her viral, writing “Famous hoile boilo, ami tomar chhobi upload kore dibo ne” (Tell me when you become famous, I will upload your picture).
It is claimed that publishing Anam’s photographs on Facebook in line with that message is damaging her honour.
Additionally, the notice cited a post by Tisha where she wrote, “Ei dujon ek keno? Ei dui boner milito hoye ghrina keno” (Why are these two one? Why is there combined hatred from these two sisters?).
Clarifying the matter, the notice stated that Anam and the other woman mentioned are not biological sisters; Anam is a fashion designer while the other is a female entrepreneur.
It alleged that although they know each other, depicting their acquaintance negatively is defaming Anam.
The notice also claimed that Tisha published photographs of two minors in her post without obtaining permission, citing this as a violation of the Cyber Security Act.
The legal notice demands the removal of all photographs and related text concerning Anam from Tisha’s verified Facebook page within two days, along with a directive not to publish any of her photos on the page in future.
Failing this, legal remedies, including claims for financial compensation and defamation damages, will be sought in appropriate courts, including the Cyber Tribunal.
