The Peninsula Chittagong PLC swung to an annual loss of Tk2.25 crore in FY2025–26 from a Tk69.6 lakh profit a year earlier, after a sharp decline in non-operating income wiped out gains from its hotel operations.
The company’s earnings per share (EPS) fell to a loss of Tk0.19 from a profit of Tk0.06, prompting its board to recommend no dividend for the year ended 30 June 2026, according to audited results approved on Tuesday.
Non-operating income plunged 99.89 per cent to just Tk60,000 from Tk5.81 crore a year earlier, the principal factor behind the company’s return to losses.
The deterioration came despite a 38.91 per cent increase in operating profit to Tk3.53 crore, supported by an additional Tk3.01 crore in revenue.
Cost of sales rose 6.40 per cent, while finance costs declined 8.65 per cent.
Cash generation also improved. Net operating cash flow more than doubled to Tk10.56 crore from Tk4.06 crore, lifting operating cash flow per share to Tk0.89 from Tk0.34.
The company attributed the improvement to higher customer receipts, lower payments to suppliers and reduced administrative, selling and net interest expenses.
However, net asset value slipped 0.86 per cent to Tk328.24 crore from Tk331.08 crore. Net asset value per share fell to Tk27.66 from Tk27.90.
The Peninsula Chittagong has scheduled its 24th annual general meeting for 30 December through a hybrid physical and digital arrangement. The record date is 16 November, while the physical venue will be announced later.
