Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, political adviser to the prime minister and BNP senior joint general secretary, said societal decline and the spread of drugs are increasing due to a lack of ideal teachers and quality education.
He made these remarks as the chief guest at the concluding ceremony of the day-long annual training workshop of Manipur High School and College in the capital on Saturday.
Rizvi added that sustainable education is not being ensured because teachers lack proper training.
He further noted that the education system is declining due to a loss of dedication among teachers, mentioning that students will not be enlightened if teachers are not wise and experienced.
Adding that the improvement of education quality is one of the government’s primary agendas, the Adviser alleged that dishonest contractors are intentionally providing low-quality food for school feeding programmes.
He described those providing substandard food to students as “enemies of humanity.”
Speaking as the special guest, Aminul Haque, state minister for Youth and Sports and convener of Dhaka City North BNP, urged for at least five minutes of discussion on moral education and social values in every classroom.
He emphasised that teachers must play a more active role in developing the future generation into humane, responsible, and value-driven citizens, rather than focusing solely on textbook knowledge.
The event also featured a speech by Md Shafiqul Islam Khan Milton, Administrator of Dhaka North City Corporation. The ceremony was presided over by Md Hamidur Huq Manik, President of the Special Committee of Manipur High School and College.
