A biting cold spell continued to grip haor district Kishoreganj as the country’s lowest temperature was again recorded in the district on Monday morning.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department recorded the minimum temperature at 10 degrees Celsius in Nikli Upazila, making it the coldest place in the country as of 11:30am, according to the latest data.

Meteorologists said the intensity of the cold is unlikely to ease immediately and warned that temperatures may fall further on Tuesday.

They said the prevailing mild cold wave could persist throughout the rest of the month, with the possibility of the chill continuing into the first week of next month.

Dense fog and icy winds have worsened suffering, particularly for day labourers and low-income people, disrupting daily life across the district.

Although the sun appeared briefly in the morning, the persistent cold wind intensified the chill, leaving residents struggling to cope with the harsh conditions, locals said.
