A young man was shot dead while sleeping at his home in the Maheshwar Pasha area of Ward no.3 in Khulna’s Doulatpur Thana. Three bullet shells were recovered from the scene.
The deceased was identified as Tanvir Hasan Shuvo, 29, General Manager (GM) of an international marketing company. Locals mentioned that he had been planning to go abroad.
Shuvo, who sustained critical injuries, died at 6am on Wednesday while receiving treatment.
Earlier, he was shot around 3:30am on Tuesday night.
Family members of the deceased reported that Tanvir had been playing games on his phone while wearing headphones and had fallen asleep.
At around 3:30am, family members heard gunshots and rushed to his room, where they found him lying in a pool of blood.
He was quickly taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital and later transferred to Khulna City Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at 6am on Wednesday.
Officer-in-charge (OC) Rafiqul Islam of Doulatpur Thana said the police had visited the crime scene and investigations were underway to uncover the motive behind the murder.
