Manik Mia Avenue witnessed a massive turnout as people from all walks of life gathered in the capital to attend the funeral of former prime minister and Bangladesh Nationalist Party Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
Bangladesh Nationalist Party leaders and activists, supporters and members of the general public from across the country took positions around the National Parliament complex, with hundreds of thousands waiting since dawn to pay their last respects to the country’s first female prime minister, widely known as the “uncompromising leader.”
Law enforcement agencies were deployed across Manik Mia Avenue, the Parliament building, Chandrima Udyan including Zia’s mausoleum and surrounding areas to prevent any untoward incident and manage the large crowd.
The scenes from Manik Mia Avenue were captured by the TIMES photojournalist’s camera.
