Zimbabwe ended the opening day of the one-off Test in Harare just four runs behind Bangladesh’s first-innings total, but Innocent Kaia’s maiden century helped them extend their lead to 109 by lunch on the second day.

In reply to Bangladesh’s 140, Zimbabwe reached 249 for 2 at lunch. The hosts added 113 runs in 27 overs during the morning session while losing just one wicket.

Resuming on 76 not out, Kaia brought up his maiden Test century with a superb pull shot for four off Ebadot Hossain. He went into the lunch break unbeaten on 126 from 196 balls, striking 15 boundaries.

Bangladesh’s only success of the session came through Khaled Ahmed, who dismissed Brendan Taylor in the first hour of play. The right-arm pacer had also removed Ben Curran on the opening day.

Despite Taylor’s departure, Brian Bennett continued to attack in an ODI-style innings, remaining unbeaten on 59 off 65 balls with nine fours at lunch.
