Inqilab Moncho activists staged a sit-in at New Market Chowrangi in Chattogram city on Saturday, demanding justice for the killing of Osman Hadi and the immediate arrest of those responsible.
The demonstration began at 3pm and saw the participation of hundreds of party leaders and supporters.
Protesters sat on the roads, causing significant traffic congestion in New Market area and surrounding streets. During the demonstration, participants chanted slogans including “Your country, my country, Bangladesh.”
Speakers at the sit-in demanded swift action to arrest and prosecute those involved in Hadi’s killing, vowing not to leave the streets until their demands are met.
Abu Hena Noman, a leader of Inqilab Moncho in Chattogram, said the sit-in would continue until instructions from the central leadership are received and that protesters are prepared to remain overnight if necessary.
Ekbal Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Police Station, confirmed that additional police personnel had been deployed to maintain law and order and to manage traffic in the area.
