Jagannath University (JnU) will open its online application portal on 15 November for admission into undergraduate programmes for 2026–27 academic year.
The decisions were finalised on Sunday during Academic Council meeting, presided over by Vice-Chancellor Professor Md Rais Uddin.
The online application process is scheduled to commence at 12pm and will remain open until 11:59pm on 10 December. The university will administer admission tests across five distinct units.
These units comprise Unit-A with Science Faculty and Life and Earth Sciences Faculty, Unit-B with Arts Faculty and Law Faculty, Unit-C with Business Studies Faculty, Unit-D with Social Sciences Faculty, and Unit-E with Fine Arts Faculty.
All examinations will be conducted in Dhaka using Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) method. Every entry test is scheduled to run for one hour, from 10am to 11am on its respective date.
The examination cycle begins with Unit-A on 1 January 2027, followed by Unit-E on 8 January. The exams for Unit-B, Unit-C, and Unit-D will take place on 15 January, 22 January, and 23 January respectively.
Eligibility and academic thresholds
To participate in the selection process, candidates must have cleared their SSC or equivalent examinations in either 2023 or 2024, and their HSC or equivalent examinations in 2026.
For Unit-A, candidates must have a minimum combined GPA of 7.00 across both examinations, with a strict requirement that a GPA below 3.00 in either exam will disqualify the applicant.
Applicants targeting Unit-B or Unit-D must secure a minimum combined GPA of 6.00, with no individual exam score falling below a GPA of 2.75.
Admission into Unit-C requires a minimum combined GPA of 6.50, alongside a score of at least a GPA of 3.00 in each exam. For Unit-E, candidates need a minimum combined GPA of 5.50 and must not have a score below a GPA of 2.50 in either of the exams.
To facilitate a smooth and coordinated intake process, the university has formed both a Central Admission Committee and unit-specific admission committees. The Academic Council has also resolved to officially begin first-year classes and general academic activities for this batch on 4 April.
The special meeting was attended by the Treasurer Professor Sabina Sharmin, as well as faculty deans, department chairmen, institute directors, external members, and academic staff. The proceedings were moderated by Registrar Professor Md Sheikh Giash Uddin.
