Aaron Sorkin is set to revisit the world of Facebook with his latest feature, ‘The Social Reckoning’, a follow-up to his acclaimed 2010 film ‘The Social Network’. Sony Pictures confirmed on Friday that the new drama will arrive in UK cinemas on October 9, 2026.
The cast includes Jeremy Strong (Succession) as Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, Oscar-winner Mikey Madison (Anora) as whistleblower Frances Haugen, Jeremy Allen White (The Bear) as Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz and comedian Bill Burr (Old Dads).
Sorkin, who has written, directs and produces the project alongside Todd Black, Peter Rice and Stuart Besser, is due to begin filming next month, according to Variety.
Described as a “companion piece” to The Social Network, the story shifts nearly twenty years on from Zuckerberg’s early days at Harvard. This time the spotlight falls on Haugen, a Facebook insider who teams up with journalist Horwitz to expose the company’s darkest secrets.
Their collaboration culminates in The Facebook Files, a 2021 investigative series revealing the platform’s damaging impact on teenagers and its role in spreading misinformation.
The Social Network was both a critical and commercial triumph, earning $226 million worldwide and securing eight Oscar nominations, including Best Picture.
