A new limited series exploring the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein is in development at Sony Pictures Television, with Laura Dern attached to star and portray journalist Julie K. Brown, according to industry reports.
The project is based on ‘Perversion of Justice: The Jeffrey Epstein Story’, written by Miami Herald reporter Brown, whose investigative work helped bring renewed attention to Epstein’s crimes.

The series will follow her reporting into the alleged secret plea deal involving Epstein and federal prosecutors, as well as her efforts to uncover evidence and support survivors in coming forward.
The story is described as a detailed account of Brown’s years-long investigation, which identified multiple victims and played a role in the eventual arrests of Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.
Sharon Hoffman is set to adapt the book, while Eileen Myers will co-showrun and executive produce. Adam McKay and Kevin Messick are also on board as executive producers through Hyperobject Industries, alongside Brown.
If greenlit, the series would be the first scripted drama focused on the Epstein investigation, a subject previously explored mainly through documentaries.
McKay, known for films such as ‘The Big Short’ and ‘Don’t Look Up’, has increasingly focused on politically and socially driven storytelling in recent years.
Dern, an Oscar and Emmy-winning actress, is expected to lead the project both as star and executive producer.
