Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has claimed that the X account of its Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar, was subjected to a major cyberattack, just days after a similar incident involving the account of Jamaat Ameer Shafiqur Rahman.
In a statement issued at midnight on Tuesday, the party’s Assistant Secretary General Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair confirmed the security breach.
He alleged that the hack is part of a continuous “conspiracy” aimed at targeting the social media accounts of Jamaat-e-Islami leadership.
According to the party, the central social media team detected the unauthorised activity and deleted the post shortly after it appeared.
Zubair said the party would take immediate legal action over the incident.
The claim comes days after the X account of Jamaat Ameer Shafiqur Rahman was also allegedly hacked.
On Saturday, Rahman’s account posted what the party later described as misogynistic and insulting remarks about women, triggering widespread criticism on social media.
Jamaat later said on Saturday night that the posts were the result of a hack and not made by the party chief.
The latest statement said those involved in what it described as conspiracies against the party would soon be identified and exposed.
Zubair also urged the administration to take necessary steps against those responsible for what he called serious criminal activities.
