The renowned musical organisation Jaltaranga is set to host a special musical evening titled “Gaan Geye Porichoy” (Identity Through Song), dedicated to the rich heritage of Bangladeshi film music.
The event will take place today, Friday, January 30, at 6:00 PM at the Isfendiar Zahed Hasan Auditorium of Bishwo Shahitto Kendro.
This initiative serves as a profound tribute to the legendary lyricists, composers, vocalists, and instrumentalists who shaped the timeless classics of Bangladeshi cinema.
As the nation’s film industry enters its seventh decade, Jaltaranga aims to honor the evolution of music over the past 70 years. The organisation particularly highlights the “Golden Era” of the 1960s, 70s, and 80s as an invaluable asset to the country’s cultural landscape.
Jaltaranga expresses hope that contemporary film music will regain the universal appeal of the Golden Era, utilising modern technology to achieve true artistic excellence.
The evening’s programme will feature:
21 Iconic Songs: A curated selection of timeless tracks performed in solo, duet, and chorus formats.
Historical Context: Artists will share background information and trivia for each song during the performance.
Timeless Setlist: The repertoire includes classics such as: Pitch Dhala Ei Pothtare, Duti Pakhi Ekti chotto Neere, Dake Pakhi Kholo Akhi, Abar Elo Je Shondha, Amar Buker Moddhyekhane, Akasher Hate Ache Ekrash Neel, Pakhir Bashar Moto Duti Chokh Tomar, Manush Dhoro Manush Bhojo.
The musical direction for the event is led by Zakir Hossain Tapan, General Secretary of Jaltaranga.
