Indian actress Ananya Raj has died at the age of 27.
According to her family, she passed away peacefully in her sleep on 15 July after battling various physical and mental health difficulties for more than a year.
The news was announced through a statement shared on Ananya’s social media account by her family.
They said the actress had been experiencing physical and mental discomfort for over a year but continued to face her struggles with courage.
The family asked fans and well-wishers to pray for Ananya’s soul and requested privacy and a peaceful environment during this difficult time.
Raised in Mumbai, Ananya worked in Hindi and regional films as well as music videos.
She made her Bollywood debut in 2016 with 7 Hours to Go. She later appeared in The Final Exit and Ghost.
Alongside films, Ananya also gained recognition through several music videos and worked with prominent music production companies.
She also appeared in South Indian cinema. In 2022, she featured in the Telugu mystery thriller Thaggedhe Le, alongside Naveen Chandra, Divya Pillai and P. Ravi Shankar.
Ananya also played Sarita in Madrasii Gang, portraying a woman raised in a Mumbai slum who becomes romantically involved with a gangster.
Her death at such a young age has left her family, colleagues and fans mourning her loss.
