Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL) has been named “Best Sustainable Bank in Bangladesh” at the FinanceAsia Awards 2026 for the fourth consecutive year, reinforcing its position as a leading climate finance institution in the country, the organisation said in a press release.
The award was presented at a gala ceremony held at the Conrad Hong Kong on 25 June 2026, where IDCOL was recognised for its continued role in mobilising capital for renewable energy, energy efficiency and climate-resilient infrastructure across Bangladesh.
Company Secretary of IDCOL M Maftun Ahmed received the award on behalf of the organisation.
Managing Director of IDCOL Alamgir Morshed said the recognition validates the institution’s sustainability-driven financing model and its ability to scale impact across solar energy, industrial decarbonisation and clean energy solutions for farmers, adding that the award reflects the contribution of its partners and teams.
IDCOL said its sustainability strategy covers grid decarbonisation, industrial transition finance and climate-smart agriculture.
Key initiatives include financing more than 200 megawatts peak (MWp) of industrial rooftop solar, with a target of 300 MWp by end-2026, and structuring a US$67 million syndicated facility for the 64.55 MW BCRECL solar plant in Pabna.
The institution has also secured a US$133 million energy efficiency credit line for the textile sector, co-financed with the Green Climate Fund, alongside deploying 1,495 solar irrigation pumps benefiting around 70,000 farmers, with a long-term target of 10,000 systems by 2030.
The FinanceAsia recognition follows additional global accolades, including The Asset Triple A Sustainable Infrastructure Finance Awards 2026, where IDCOL was named Project Finance House of the Year, and its BCRECL Pabna solar project won Renewable Energy Deal of the Year.
