A delegation from the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB), led by its President Md Kausar Alam FCMA, met Bangladesh Bank Governor Md Mostaqur Rahman FCMA at the central bank’s headquarters on June 22 to discuss issues related to financial governance, regulatory compliance and cooperation between the two institutions.
During the courtesy call at Bangladesh Bank headquarters, the two sides exchanged views on financial reporting, risk management and the role of professional accountants in strengthening the country’s financial system. They also discussed ways to enhance cooperation to promote transparency, accountability and sustainable growth in the financial sector, ICMAB said in a press release.
Md Kausar Alam highlighted the contribution of Cost and Management Accountants (CMAs) in promoting financial discipline, transparency, cost efficiency and accountability.
He emphasised the need for closer collaboration between Bangladesh Bank and ICMAB to strengthen governance and support the sustainable development of the financial sector.
The governor acknowledged the contribution of CMAs to the country’s economic development and expressed interest in strengthening cooperation between Bangladesh Bank and ICMAB, according to the press release.
The ICMAB delegation also included Abdul Matin Patwary FCMA and SM Zahir Uddin Haider FCMA, Vice Presidents; Arif Khan FCMA, Council Member and Past President; Md Mushfiqur Rahman FCMA, Chairman of the Media and Public Relation Committee; Md Mahbub-Ul-Alam FCMA, Executive Director; and Md Moslem Uddin, Deputy Director.
The meeting focused on strengthening governance practices and promoting greater accountability within Bangladesh’s financial sector through enhanced institutional cooperation, the press release said.
