Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill is confident and calm before the new IPL season. He says he does not feel any extra pressure.
Gill spoke before the start of the Indian Premier League 2026 season. He made it clear that his focus is on the team. He wants to help Gujarat win another title. He is not thinking about personal records.
Gill said he has been consistent in the last few seasons. He believes he does not need to prove himself again. He added that the team has also done well in recent years.
“I think if you look at the past three or four seasons, I think I have the most runs in the IPL. So I don’t think I have anything to prove in this season particularly. And the four years that I have played for this team, I think we have done decently well as a team. And I think I have done decently well as a batsman,” Gill said in the pre-tournament press conference.
“So I don’t think I need to prove to anyone my worth. I think I need to do what I have been doing for the past four years. And as a team, we need to be consistent, which I think we have been. And if we continue doing that sooner or later, I think we will win that trophy once more,” he added.
Gill has built a strong record in the IPL. He has played 118 matches so far. He has scored 3,866 runs at an average of 39.44. His record includes four centuries and 26 half-centuries.
He now looks to carry this form into the new season. He will lead Gujarat Titans again as they aim for another title.
The 2022 champions will start their IPL 2026 campaign against Punjab Kings on March 31 at Mullanpur.
