Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Sunday called for building a financial system that provides every individual the opportunity to become an entrepreneur rather than merely a jobseeker.
“Human beings are not born to do jobs; they are born to be entrepreneurs. Our financial system should enable everyone to start their own ventures,” he said.
Professor Yunus made the remarks while inaugurating the new building (Bhaban-2) of the Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) at Khilji Road in Mohammadpur, Dhaka.
Highlighting the evolving aspirations of the younger generation, he noted that rural youths today are more aware, informed, and imaginative. “We need a financial and social environment where they can launch ventures individually or through institutions,” he added.
The Chief Adviser said that if a framework is created allowing people to start ventures or even invest in others’ initiatives, meaningful change is possible. He emphasized that in such an environment, individuals can work as independent entrepreneurs or operate through organizations, raising investment as needed.
“Hundreds of thousands of entrepreneurs have already been created, many working in teams of boys and girls. Using this experience, we can expand and improve further,” Professor Yunus said, underscoring the potential for a broader entrepreneurial culture.
