HSBC Bangladesh on Sunday honoured Flamingo Fashions, NZ Tex Group, Janata Jute Mills–Sadat Jute Industries and Ulkasemi PVT Limited with the HSBC Export Excellence Awards 2025 for strengthening the country’s export growth, innovation and sectoral resilience.
The ceremony, held in Dhaka, was organised in partnership with the Ministry of Commerce and the British High Commission, with KPMG auditing the selection process to ensure transparency and fairness.
Flamingo Fashions topped the ready-made garments category for exporting more than $100 million, backed by vertically integrated operations, 118 production lines producing 44 million pieces annually, and sustainability measures including GRS-certified recycling, renewable energy use and water-efficient dyeing.
NZ Tex Group received the RMG backward linkage award for exports above $50 million, supported by a 52,000-tonne annual yarn capacity, about 550 looms and certifications such as GOTS, OEKO-TEX, GRS and ZDHC Level 3 that reinforce the textile supply chain.
Janata Jute Mills and Sadat Jute Industries jointly won the non-traditional manufacturing award for surpassing $10 million in exports by moving into technical textiles, geo-textiles, non-wovens and sustainable packaging supplied to nearly 90 markets.
Ulkasemi PVT Limited was recognised in the non-traditional services segment for earning over $5 million from semiconductor design and verification as one of only 29 global partners of the TSMC Design Center Alliance, serving clients across the US, China, Taiwan and India.
A keynote on “Sustaining High Performance” was delivered by Cognacity performance psychologist Jake Lovelock at the ceremony.
HSBC Bangladesh CEO Md Mahbub ur Rahman said the awards celebrated exporters’ grit and ambition but stressed that sustaining growth would require strategic evolution, noting, “While acknowledging the current success, we must work collaboratively for greater market diversification and to maximise the benefits of preferential trade agreements.”
Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin attended as chief guest, joined by British High Commissioner Sarah Cooke and Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Ahsan H. Mansur.
The awards highlighted Bangladesh’s growing presence in both traditional and emerging export sectors and underlined the importance of innovation, sustainability and market diversification to maintain global competitiveness.
The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, the founding member of the HSBC Group, serves customers in 57 countries and territories worldwide and had assets of $3,234 billion as of 30 September 2025, making it one of the world’s largest banking and financial services organisations.
