A court application has been filed against three individuals, including the former wife of content creator Ashraful Hossain Alom, alias Hero Alom, on charges of demanding Tk15 lakh in extortion, fraud, misappropriation of money, and issuing death threats.
The court recorded the statement of the complainant and directed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to investigate the allegations.
Hero Alom submitted the application on Monday morning to the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Raju Ahmed.
The accused in the case are Hero Alom’s ex-wife Sathi Khatun, and his two associates, Ahsan Habib Selim, 30 and Md Mohidul Islam, 28.
Hero Alom’s lawyer Shanta Saksina confirmed the matter.
According to the complaint, Sathi had initially approached Hero Alom requesting opportunities to work in music videos.
He subsequently provided her with money for household expenses and clothing.
The complaint noted that on 17 August, Sathi was given Tk5 lakh, which she later acknowledged on social media to having deposited in a bank.
Moreover, after Hero Alom left for Saudi Arabia on 22 August to perform Umrah, Sathi allegedly demanded an additional Tk2 lakh for music video shooting and makeup.
The application added that after Hero Alom divorced Sathi on 29 September, all three accused jointly demanded Tk15 lakh in extortion from him.
They also allegedly abused Hero Alom and his family members on social media and issued death threats.
According to the allegations, on 12 October, the accused appeared live on social media during Hero Alom’s birthday event, threatening to publicly consume poison and send him to jail. In connection with these threats, he had lodged a General Diary (GD) at Hatirjheel Police Station on 16 October.
