Moderate to heavy rainfall is likely to occur in parts of the country over the next few days, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds may occur at a few places over Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions, and at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Khulna divisions, the Met office said in its forecast issued at 9am on Sunday.
In Dhaka, the wind may blow from the west or northwest at a speed of 8 to 12 kilometres per hour, the forecast said.
Nighttime temperatures across the country are expected to remain nearly unchanged, while daytime temperatures may rise slightly.
According to BMD data, the humidity level in Dhaka was 95 percent at 6am on Sunday. Tangail recorded the highest rainfall in the last 24 hours till 6am, measuring 164 millimeters.
A low-pressure area over Gangetic West Bengal and the western part of Bangladesh has become weak and insignificant.
Meanwhile, another low has formed over the east-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining Myanmar coast, which may move towards the Myanmar-Bangladesh coast.
On Saturday, the country’s highest temperature was recorded in Khepupara at 35°C, while the lowest temperature today was jointly recorded in Saidpur and Tetulia at 21°C.
