A neighbour of late actor Hayden Panettiere has recalled repeatedly calling 911 over disturbances at the actor’s West Hollywood apartment, days after her death at 36.
Speaking to Inside Edition on Wednesday, neighbour Mia Terrazzas described her experiences living next to Panettiere and her on-again, off-again boyfriend Brian Hickerson.
Asked whether she had noticed signs of domestic violence, Terrazzas said, “Oh, absolutely.”
“I saw her leaving on a gurney. Brian was right next to her, and I asked her if she was OK, and it looked to me that she had suffered some type of trauma that looked to be battering,” she alleged. “It was clear she was terrified.”
Terrazzas claimed she had contacted emergency services at least six times over disturbances at the apartment.
She also alleged that the homeowners association had posted notices around the property last year, warning residents to call 911 if Hickerson was seen there.
According to her, the notices were removed about a week later.
“This predator was in our community. He never stopped living at her place,” Terrazzas alleged.
She also claimed that Hickerson once damaged Panettiere’s bathroom with a sledgehammer at around 5am.
Panettiere, known for Heroes, Nashville and the Scream franchise, had previously spoken publicly about alleged abuse by Hickerson.
In her memoir This Is Me: A Reckoning, released earlier this year, she detailed the physical abuse she said she experienced during their relationship.
Hickerson pleaded no contest to two felony counts of injuring Panettiere and was sentenced to 45 days in jail in 2021.
Panettiere died on Sunday in Greenville, South Carolina, at the age of 36.
According to a police report, Hickerson and his brother were at the South Carolina townhouse when authorities pronounced her dead.
The Greenville County Coroner’s Office has said that the cause and manner of death remain pending further investigation.
Officials have also said there were no obvious signs of trauma. The Drug Enforcement Administration has reportedly joined the investigation.
Panettiere’s mother, Lesley Vogel, has also spoken out following her daughter’s death, criticising Hickerson and saying he was present when Panettiere died.
Filmmaker Griff Furst, who worked with Panettiere on the 2025 film A Breed Apart, also alleged that the actor appeared distressed when Hickerson visited her on set, saying it was “pretty clear that she wasn’t OK”.
Authorities have yet to announce Panettiere’s official cause of death.
