Green University of Bangladesh on Thursday opened the 2025 edition of the Innovation and Transformation for Development (ITD) conference at its permanent campus, bringing together researchers and academics from home and abroad to discuss sustainable growth and governance.

The fourth edition focuses on advancing sustainable business and law with an emphasis on integrating environmental, social and governance priorities in emerging economies, the university said in a statement.

The conference aims to build an international platform for young researchers to exchange ideas and expand academic collaboration, said Green University Vice Chancellor Prof Md Mohammad Shorif Uddin, who attended the opening ceremony as chief guest.

Such initiatives strengthen academic capacity and promote a culture of research-driven discourse, he added.

The discussions on environment, society and governance are expected to support better decision-making in education, policy and business, said Islamic University Vice Chancellor Prof Md Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah, who joined as special guest.

The insights shared at the conference will contribute to the national conversation on sustainability, he added.

The ITD conference began in 2021 to encourage research and innovation among the next generation. Papers from previous editions have been published in Scopus-indexed journals, underscoring its focus on high-quality scholarship.

This year, the organisers received 192 submissions from local and international authors. A total of 113 papers has been selected for presentations.

Awards will be given to the authors of the best papers.
