The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has urged medical technologists and pharmacists to immediately return to work, following several days of strikes and protests over the implementation of the long-pending tenth-grade pay scale.

The strikes and other activities over the past few days has disrupted essential health services, causing severe difficulties for patients.

The ministry expressed regret over the disruption and the inconvenience faced by service recipients, says a press release. It said the government has taken positive steps to address the demands.

The Directorate General of Health Services and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare have completed all necessary actions to implement the tenth-grade pay scale and informed all relevant parties.

The Ministry of Public Administration has also shown a proactive attitude and is working sincerely to resolve the longstanding issue.

Representatives of the striking workers were briefed on the progress during talks with ministry officials.

However, despite progress towards a positive resolution, they have continued the agitation in the name of pressing their demands, holding patients hostage in the process—an approach that is in no way acceptable to service providers engaged in the noble profession of healthcare.

The ministry called on all medical technologists, pharmacists, and related staff to halt strikes and resume duties immediately. It warned that any continuation of actions that disrupt critical health services could lead to legal measures.
