The Advisory Council has approved a total of 28 holidays for the 2026 calendar year, though 11 of these coincide with weekends.

The decision was taken at the 47th meeting of the Advisory Council, held at the Chief Adviser’s Office (CAO) with Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus in the chair.

Speaking at a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said, “Of the 28 holidays, 14 are general holidays while the remaining 14 are declared through executive orders. Since 11 holidays fall on Fridays and Saturdays, officials will effectively enjoy 17 government holidays next year.”
