The government has approved the creation of 2,258 additional posts for Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), expanding the manpower of the paramilitary force.
A Home Ministry circular states that the new positions will support three battalions and a medical facility under the force.
The battalions concerned are stationed in Bhuruingamari of Kurigram, Thanchi of Bandarban and Meherpur, while the Border Guard Hospital is situated in Guimara under Khagrachhari district.
Each battalion will receive 742 new posts and the hospital will get 32.
Following this expansion, the total strength of BGB will rise to 59,735 personnel.
