The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has announced another hike in gold prices in the domestic market.
This time, the price of 22‑carat gold has been raised by Tk5,482 per bhori (11.664 grams), setting the new rate at Tk246,110 per bhori including VAT.
The decision was disclosed in a Bajus press release on Saturday morning. The revised prices took effect from 10am.
According to the release, the price of pure gold (acid gold) has risen in the local market. Considering the overall situation, Bajus has fixed the new rates inclusive of VAT.
Under the new rates, 22‑carat gold will cost Tk246,110 per bhori, 21‑carat gold Tk235,030, 18‑carat gold Tk201,846, and traditional method gold Tk164,812 per bhori.
Bajus said the rates will remain in force at all jewellery outlets until further notice. Wages will apply depending on design. Since VAT is included in the sales price of gold and silver ornaments, customers cannot be charged separately for VAT.
For ornament exchange and purchase, the previous rules will continue, excluding specified VAT, wages, and stone value.
Earlier on 20 August, Bajus last adjusted gold prices, raising the rate of 22‑carat gold by Tk3,849 per bhori to Tk240,628 including VAT.
At that time, 21‑carat gold was set at Tk229,781, 18‑carat gold at Tk197,355, and traditional method gold at Tk161,196 per bhori. Those prices also took effect from 10am that day.
So far this year, gold prices in the domestic market have been adjusted 106 times increased 54 times, reduced 51 times, and VAT adjusted once. In comparison, in 2025, Bajus adjusted gold prices 93 times, with 64 increases and 29 reductions.
