Within just 24 hours, the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has once again increased gold prices in the market.
This time, the price of 22-carat gold has been raised by Tk16,213 per bhori (11.664 grams), setting the new rate at Tk286,001 per bhori, the highest in the country’s history.
BAJUS announced the decision in a press release on Thursday, saying that the new prices will take effect from 10:15am.
According to the release, the price of pure gold (acid gold) has risen in the local market, prompting the association to adjust overall rates accordingly.
Under the revised pricing, 22-carat gold will cost Tk286,001 per bhori, 21-carat gold Tk272,996 per bhori, 18-carat gold Tk233,980 per bhori, and traditional gold Tk193,039 per bhori.
BAJUS further said, buyers must pay an additional 5 percent government-mandated VAT and a minimum 6 percent making charge set by the association. However, the making charge may vary depending on the design and quality of the jewellery.
Previously, on 28 January, BAJUS had adjusted gold prices, raising the rate of 22-carat gold by Tk7,348 per bhori to Tk 269,788, then the highest in Bangladesh’s history. At that time, 21-carat gold was priced at Tk257,483, 18-carat gold at Tk220,741, and traditional gold at Tk181,725 per bhori.
With this latest gold price, gold prices have now been adjusted 16 times in 2026 — increased 13 times and reduced 3 times. BAJUS revised gold prices a total of 93 times, with 64 hikes and 29 reductions in 2025.
Apart from gold, silver price has also been increased. The price of 22-carat silver has increased by Tk816 per bhori, setting the new rate at Tk8,573, the highest in the country’s history.
The new rates for silver are Tk8,165 per bhori for 21-carat, Tk6,998 per bhori for 18-carat, and Tk5,249 per bhori for traditional silver.
