The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has reduced gold prices in the local market by up to Tk5,482 per bhori.
In a statement issued on Wednesday morning, Bajus said it fixed the new prices following a decline in the prices of refined gold (tejabi gold) and silver in both the international and domestic markets.
The revised prices came into effect from 10pm.
Under the revised pricing, one bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold will now cost Tk225,290.
The price of 21-carat gold has been fixed at Tk215,142 per bhori, while 18-carat gold will sell for Tk184,458 per bhori. Gold produced under the traditional method will cost Tk150,932 per bhori.
The latest adjustment comes a day after BAJUS increased gold prices on Tuesday.
With the latest revision, gold prices have been adjusted 80 times in Bangladesh so far this year.
Silver prices have also been reduced.
According to the new rates, one bhori of 22-carat silver will cost Tk4,841. The price of 21-carat silver has been set at Tk4,607 per bhori, while 18-carat silver will sell for Tk3,966 per bhori.
Silver produced under the traditional method will cost Tk2,974 per bhori.
BAJUS has adjusted silver prices 48 times in the domestic market so far this year.
